Every year our church plans a 15 day trip to Asia, which includes stops in Calcutta, India; Bangkok, Thailand; and rural villages in Northern Thailand. The purpose of these trips is not just to learn first hand about another culture and what the kingdom of God looks like in that context, but also to contribute in meaningful ways to the ministry in that setting. This means that we lead Bible lessons for kids from the slums of Calcutta, bring clothes and supplies to remote hostels in hidden mountain villages, meet front line missionaries and encourage them with our care, support and prayer. Dozens of people have gone on these trips since 2001 and have had their view of the world expanded as they are immersed in another culture and experience the Christian faith from their perspective.
A core value at New Hope is supporting overseas mission work. We directly support mission work in Africa and Asia, regularly sending mission teams to Thailand and India on two week mission trips. We work together with long term mission partners to effectively minister cross culturally during these trips. We do not post the details of our missionaries online due to security concerns, but Pastor Rob would love to talk with you about our church's passion for missions.
